NobleTeens launch 12.04.07
On Tuesday, December 4th a group of Noblemen, a strong contingency of local non-profits and 230 teenagers met together to start designing programs whereas teens help teens.
Several years ago I met with a local philanthropist that suggested that the Noblemen figure out a way to work with teenagers. That idea struck a chord deep in my soul. I can’t tell you how many people that I have mentioned this to over the years waiting for the response that I knew some day would come.
Pete Reuss to the rescue…about a month ago Pete called me to discuss an opportunity that was emerging with one of his clients. The word on the street was Pete had his finger on the pulse of the community and this gentleman wanted to invest! Pete’s initial idea was funding our famous Dictionary project, 1600 dictionaries to local 3rd graders in Virginia Beach.
Coincidentally through some investigations we learned about a young man that was attending one of our local magnet school programs and needed to fulfill an obligation of 40 hours of community service. Oh and by the way he hung out with 229 local teenagers with the same obligation.
The idea starts to take shape…Pete and I met with Tallwood High School officials and offered our guidance and contacts to aid the students fulfill their obligation. They agreed and we were asked to address the students in an assembly in a couple of weeks.
When we arrived, a power point presentation was going on and the teenagers were learning how and why they should help out in the community and then it came time for the Pete and Al show. We told our stories and talked of our passions and the teenagers embraced us like family. You could feel the magic in the room and after our presentation Pete and I both knew something significant was beginning to emerge.
On Tuesday, December 4th The Noblemen and our community partners sat down for two hours and hung out with awesome teenagers and began discussions about how to do something significant is this community.
I am confident we will all remember the day when this idea came to fruition. I am forever grateful to be a part of this great solution.

Wow, how cool was that, being able to talk to 200+ SUPER SMART high school kids that get it and that MUST spend the time to complete their community service. I could have sworn they all wore gift wraps, but that must be the season in my eyes. What a blessing, man. We signed up 71 kids who are considering Capernaum as a place to help out. But I saw ALL the non-profit charities signing up kids and spreading the word. How cool is this that we can expand our vision and prepare the future Noble men.

It was a great experience to share with the teens at Tallwood High School. They came armed with great questions and many were interested in helping us feed the homeless at a breakfast beginning in January. A total of 68 names were on my list when I was ready to leave. Where else could we get that many who are willing to help out. Thanks for the opportunity.

Hi! My daughter is a freshman at the WLGSA at Tallwood, and came home very excited about NobleTeens. She has created a logo idea for the group (drawn it up) and is ready to move forward- I will have her email the drawing and her thoughts... Thanks for all you do!

Today was the first general meeting for the Tallwood academy kids. it was exciting. ideas were popping up one after another. cant wait till the next meeting. many of my friends were inspired to branch out their ideas. they are all determined to make nobleteens a big thing. i was part of the logo making group. those ideas are still coming. noble teens is a great opportunity to get volunteer hours as well as getting students to start something to help others.
by the way, would you guys consider collaborating with Tallwood's Uganda Project? have you heard of it?

What a stunning day of collective talent in the same room!
It started with local charities represented by Executive Directors, Board Members, Grant Directors, all there to guide and educate about the different social issues each charity deals with and are committed to improving, gathering with 200 plus bright high school kids with many diverse ideas on the local issues that challenge them and solutions they can pursue. Partnered with the Noblemen, a group committed to "Being part of the solution", it was a joy to see this group of talent start the groundwork for many "Noble Deeds" that will touch and change future lives.

Teens meeting to develop noble "Teen Deeds" is an inspiring concept. The word is out, as a teacher friend of mine from Salem High School asked me yesterday for info about our project. She believes, as do I, the need to give lies within us all. Investing the time to nurture all of our teenagers in this practice can have profound results.
Let's move to enlighten and include other regional high schools!!
