One of our Noblemen members Pete received a call from his uncle Bob @ Tallwood HS. Bob is a teacher @ Tallwood and one of his students is confined to a wheel chair and really needs transportation beyond a school bus. This young man had no other way of getting anywhere beyond school. His Mom had a van; however it was not outfitted with the needed wheel chair lift. Could we help?
Wow, the request was a bit overwelming. We decided to buy some handi-ride passes from HRT. It was a way to "plug the dike" until we could figure something else out.
At the next NobleTeen meeting the van issue was announced. It just so happened that John, a Noblemen had attended intending to help out the teens with marketing since he possessed talents in that arena. John also is an Executive Director for Young Life Capernaum, a young person's Christian Organization working with all types of disabled youth.
John slipped out of the meeting and made a call to a mother that had recently lost her wheel chair bound son. This young man had used a handicap van to get around. John made the deal and soon this teenager @ Tallwood HS would be the new owner.
The NobleTeens made sure the van looked great and ceremoniously bestowed the new van to their fellow student.
It was simply just cool and amazing. There was so much joy that day from all that attended.
The rest of the story...
Tha van was originally donated to The Samaritan House and almost turned away until Jeff (Noblemen) who served on the board saw to it that the van was received and then donated to Capernaum for John to work his magic. The van went on to serve Allen (young man who recently passed away) and then to Leland the Tallwood Student.
Never underestimate the power of membership!!!!!
